Hi there! My name is Stella, and welcome to Orphan Writes.
I was born in the early 90s to Congolese (DRC) parents in the heart of Johannesburg, South Africa. Ten years later, both my parents died in a car accident on the SAME DAY. Parentless, my childhood turned into a nightmare - hunger, poverty, abuse, molestation, suicide attempts, depression...
I started writing prior to the tragic accident, and after my parents died writing became an escape for me - a refuge. I wrote about my feelings, my doubts, my confusion, my denial, my pain, and anything that occupied space in my heart and mind.
Although I first started blogging back in 2012, I consider Orphan Writes to be my very first blog which is fully dedicated to my parents, my childhood as an orphan, and my present life as an adult orphan.
This blog is about my thoughts, raw emotions and real struggles and triumphs of life as an orphan. Sometimes there are tears, and at times there are laughs. They are all a part of my journey, a journey I'd like to share with you, with truth and love.
By sharing a bit about me, I hope to inspire and motivate you - to pour a bit of positivity in your life.
So, welcome to my journey; my orphan journey of grief, hardships, peace, love, and happiness.
Stay positive and keep shining!
